RUBY

What on earth posessed me to add the word "ruby" to my list of ideas for my 365 project?!  Well, I can tell you I spent a LOT of time thinking about it before executing this little cinquain.
(poetry form using 5 lines and following these rules:
                     1st line: a word -- noun
2nd line: two words related to subject
3rd line: three adjectives to expand word
4th line:  four word phrase related to word
5th line  one word that is a synonym for word

I was inspired to create another tag cinquain...but will wait to post it until after the next calligraphy meeting.  We are challenging ourselves to "Let's do Lettering" and set creating a tag cinquain as this month's project.  I hope the other members come with some too!  Looking at it now, I see several less than wonderful lettering issues.  Perhaps I will re-do it soon.  Not sure.  I am nearly ready to jet off to visit my 8 grandchildren and so art-making is on the back burner for a short while.

Calligraphy Collaboration

I belong to a calligraphy group: Scripts & Scribes.  The members are amazing and creative folks.  One of our members, Vicki, a very talented calligrapher, presented the program at our meeting last night.  I thought I would include photos of our work to create a little (2"x2") Round Robin Alphabet Book.  We each came with an entire alphabet lettered ahead of time (sized to fit on a 2"x2" page).  We created covers and then exchanged letters so everyone will have a wee book with letters made by others in the group.  I share photos of our work in progress and my book almost ready to glue pages in place.  Look for photos of finished books next month when we bring them to meeting for "show and tell"

Dave made a "flying pigs" cover & a  black letter alphabet

Joann's gilded letters in her celtic knotwork frames - wow!

Ring

The frame: "ring".   well, that leaves things wide open, now, doesn't it?!
"ring around the rosie"
"ring-ring, telephone ring!"
"with this ring...."
ring of fire,
(w)ring my hands..so I spent a few days pondering.
I was thinking of all the circles of influence each of us have.  How inter-connected our lives are.  I chose the color scheme to reflect the warm/hot and cool/cold aspects of our interaction.  Not much is neutral. Some things are very pale, others intense. Some intersections are slight others very large.  The ideas and implications keep coming.

Come Play with me!

Life is ART--there is beauty everywhere that needs to be looked at and appreciated. Yeah, there is plenty of bad stuff in the world, but God tells us to think on whatever is pure, lovely and of good report (Philippians 4) so I am going to obey...won't you come with me?! Let's make and do things that are beautiful, lovely, fun....
