Sunshine! Blue skies! Is this really January? I just finished a quilt top that is part of an ongoing project of mine. I have so many scraps and odd bits of fabric in my stash that I have begun cutting quilts for charity. I sorted boxes and boxes of these odds and ends into color groups and cut 11 quilt tops to piece and eventually back and quilt. They will go to a local charity that helps families. The sorting also gave me a few that are possible to start an Etsy store. Will see about that. The other fun thing I have finished is my dining room curtains. I had made them completely from fabric I had on hand. The big floral wasn't enough to cover the window so I had added a band at the bottom to gain the needed length. It was a navy background small all-over print. OK, but not good. So yesterday I hit the fabric store, bought a yard of fabric and some really great braid...both on sale...hooray! I ripped off the first border and re-did with the new yellow/blue/green plaid. Oh, much better! the cornice/valance is from scraps of a long-ago chair reupholstery project. My living room curtains are done, but I am waiting to have Beloved Spouse help me hang the rod. I will add photo and commentary about them next week when they are up and photographed. I will photograph both at night so you can see them better. Sunshine is really great, but to try to take a picture with it beaming thorough, ---"dunt werk!"
I had a happy surprise today. Someone responded to my Craig's List ad for alterations and so I have a project that will swell my coffers a bit! That will help with the fun new book I bought myself last Saturday while cruising the mall with my daughter. It is called "The Pocket Paper Engineer" and is basic stuff to learn how to make pop-ups. I am fascinated with them and so am eager to start that project soon.
