Ninth Day

TANGERINE our frame for the day.
(NOTE:  "Blogger" won't let me put the pictures in the right orientation.  GRRRRR!!!  Anyone know how to deal with this?--very frustrating.   Guess you could just lay down on your side to see our photos?! )
OK....challenge for sure!! Mom decided to do a small watercolor. I think it is delightful. (She used the new alphabet I taught her a couple days ago...she has got a great start on it, hasn't she?!) She complained that she had it really great, but went back and fiddled enough that the paper began to curl with the extra water of the "fix-up"....note to selves: "stop, already!!"

I was inspired by our friend, Trish, who came to lunch at our house yesterday with her wonderful quilt-in-progress...an amazing work of art!  I haven't made any art quilts in far too long.  Thanks for the nudge, Trish!  And I was influenced by Mom's ruminations and machinations as she has been trying to decide how to paint and decorate her bedroom. Her most-favored color scheme is a lovely "robin's egg blue" (or a soft aqua or a gentle tealy greeny bluey softy color) and coral (or peach or apricot or tangerine....) Anyway, all of the above conspired to make me drag out my own hand-dyed fabrics (only the one in the orange isn't mine, and the stems and border are ready-made fabrics) to create a fabric art work. I have wanted to paint on fabric with the acrylic paints our friend Barb J. gave us a few months ago...so, "VOILA!!!" an art quilt on the frame of "tangerine"

Now it is time to go do some ordinary sewing. I have some dresses to make for a customer and a wool coat to alter for Dearest Daughter.
But before that, I am going to have Mom pick a new frame for our next project. Stay tuned!

Come Play with me!

Life is ART--there is beauty everywhere that needs to be looked at and appreciated. Yeah, there is plenty of bad stuff in the world, but God tells us to think on whatever is pure, lovely and of good report (Philippians 4) so I am going to obey...won't you come with me?! Let's make and do things that are beautiful, lovely, fun....
